Writerly Links

Here are my favorite links for science fiction writers:

Here are blogs of authors, literary agents, editors, and others in the publishing business that have a lot of interesting stuff to say:

  • Whatever – John Scalzi, who always has a lot to say about writing, publishing, and SF media
  • Miss Snark – sadly, she’s no longer with us (in the Internet way), but the archives are still insanely useful. Read them.
  • Evil Editor – for blow-by-blow breakdowns of where other writers are going wrong in their queries, etc.
  • Arcaedia – Jennifer Jackson of the Donald Maass Literary Agency

Awesome science fiction conventions for authors and those who love them. If you think these are just about geeks in costumes, you are seriously missing out.

  • Norwescon – my local, Seattle area con
  • RadCon – almost local, but not really

And, because I’m a geek like that, here’s some cool writing software of the mac-friendly variety:

  • Scrivener – ever had a cat jump on the meticulously sorted stack of index cards that plotted out your next novel?
  • WriteRoom – for the easily distracted among us. Like me.
