College Admissions Tips

Yes, this section seems a little out of place on this website, you’re right!

But after I stopped teaching, I did some private college admissions advising on the side.  I really enjoyed helping students find – and get into – those schools that were just a perfect fit for them, individually.  Now that my writing is squeezing out other things for time, this is one of the “side deals” that I’m having to give up.  And while that’s probably the best thing for me, I hate the idea that all of the accumulated info and created handouts will just go to waste — so I decided to throw it all up on here, with the hopes that someone will find it useful.  Plus, this way I’ll have a link to send students and parents when they email and ask if I can do the college advising for “just one more year”.  :)

I’m not going to cover the whole process, but here are the two topics on which I have stuff to share:

How do I decide which colleges are right for me?

(info and handouts to come)

Essays – how do I pick a topic, and what do I need to know as I write?
