This overlaps some with my list of favorite books, but not completely. If I see any of these authors’ names on a book, I will take it home with me – these are writers who very rarely disappoint me. On the other hand, there are some authors with titles in my “favorite books” list that are really hit or miss for me.
Some of these authors write across multiple categories, but I listed them under the category I’d usually look for them in at a bookstore. I also tried to limit this list to authors who are still actively publishing.
For what it’s worth, male authors seem to predominate in my “favorite books of all time” list, whereas female authors come out by a landslide in my “authors whose books I always like” list — I wonder why that is?
